Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does each test check for?

  • COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab test

The PCR swab tests directly detect the presence of the COVID-19 antigen in an individual via a swab through the nose and sent to our laboratory partner (turnaround time 24-36 hours). This is the most accurate and definitive test for COVID-19.

  • COVID-19 Serology IgM rapid test

The Serology IgM test detects the body’s immune response to the infection caused by the virus.  This is done by a blood test sent to our laboratory partner (turnaround time 24-36 hours).  Serology tests cannot be used solely to determine COVID-19 infection.

  • COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test (ART)

The ART is an additional test for COVID-19 used mainly for pre-event testing. This test is less accurate than the COVID-19 PCR Test and is used as a complementary test. Results will be available within 30min of taking the test, the patient remains at the clinic till the test result is issued.
